2012 Summer Practice Olympics!

I'm excited to announce that this summer we will be holding Summer Practice Olympics among the Music Academy piano studios!   All students will be asked to keep a record of their practice time from July 1 - Aug 24th.  Everyone else will receive a practice chart where you can record # minutes of piano practice for each day.  We'll divide everyone into teams and keep track of each team's progress on a poster in the Academy lobby.  


At the end of the summer, on August 25th, we'll have a backyard piano party with food and games, and we will announce and award the winning team as well as leading practice individuals.  

Piano Ensemble Recital

Families:

Please let me know as soon as possible if your student will be able to participate in the Friday, July 20th ensemble recital at 5:30pm.  Playing in ensemble is not only a good skill to develop, but it can also be a great opportunity for students who get nervous performing.  In this setting they get to perform pieces with kids their own age and the music will be in front of them (no memorization required).  Also many of the pieces are pretty silly or exciting, and students seem to have a good time working on them.

Everyone will have the opportunity to play in a duet or small ensemble, but I want to make sure that students who are able to perform on the 20th will be paired up accordingly.  Thanks!

Spring Studio Recital

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the spring studio recital!  All performers played very well, and I hope you all are proud of your accomplishments in piano this year.  Great job!
